Floor
Rubbers
Do
not store in sunlight. It is pure rubber and will deteriorate.
Take
out of box and store laid fully open or roll it up over a tube.
Folded
like it is for shipping will cause cracks!
Top
must be trimmed to fit
You
can go straight across or around pedals etc, to install over gas pedal all
you have to do is undo cotter pin on to of pedal and work it down.
You
may have to cut a small v where the floor bends up at hump.
Glue
sides and triangles one with Lepages yellow glue or equivalent. Do not glue
floor down.
Late
model cars may have seat holes back an inch from where the ones are in floor
you have, just cut new holes to mach as old holes will be covered by seat.
You
will also need to cut out seat belt holes, as a lot of cars do not have
these. (So I do not stamp them in)
2
little holes are for hold on clips on most cars if yours are missing do not
worry they will stay in place
Amphicar
Shocks
I
have found that Snowmobile shocks work great on Amphicars.
I
will not sell them or guarantee them but have had great results with them and
a cheaper price. I
get them from Royal distributing.. web page www.royaldistributing.com
in Canada.
USA
will have similar snowmobile companies to buy from, the part numbers are as
follows.
for
front shocks on early models order...04-265 KIMPEX.. COST 79.95
YOU
WILL ALSO NEED A SPRING HOLDER.. 04-296-05 FOR ALL SHOCKS
YOU
WILL NEED TO GO TO SPRING SHOP AND GET 2 BUSHINGS.. CUT IN HALF AND PRESS
INTO SHOCK EYE, THESE
ARE NOT METRIC SO YOU WILL HAVE TO PUT A SHIM AROUND BOLT OR REAM OUT BOLT HOLE
FOR STANDARD BOLT ON CAR.
FOR
FRONT SHOCKS ON LATE MODEL AMHICARS GET KIMPEX #04-258
CUT
OFF TOP BUSHING AND RETHREAD.. CHANGE LOWER BUSHING. FOR
REAR SHOCKS USE KIMPEX #04-268
GET
BUSHINGS AT SPRING SHOP. MODIFY AS NEC.
IF
YOU HAVE WIDE REAR SPRINGS YOU CAN EITHER USE SPRING PADS OF OLD SHOCKS
OR
GET LARGE WASHERS FROM BOLT SHOPS. YOU STILL NEED 04-296-05 TO HOLD THE
WASHER
A
SHOP PRESS MAKES PUTTING THE SPRING ON MUCH EASIER.

PHOTOS
Keep
old pieces handy for references. (Take pictures before you take them apart)
DOORS
& PANELS: look at old panels, and position clips in the same direction
and clip on. (Gord has theses clips in stock) You may need to trim material
out of the way .On rear panels do not put clips on the back 2 holes, (as of
June 04 we no longer put these holes in) they are not needed as seat holds
tight.
Front
doors. You need to trim out holes in material where the handles go threw and
be very careful with the water handle hole. You may need to remove some of
the hardboard for a better fit. (June 04 now made larger) The pouches are
really only glued on and depend on the pressure of the door to keep in
place. The panel is not quite as large as the door from factory so clip
positioning is very important. All doors had foam in them originally but it
disappeared over time. These do have good foam filler about 1/4 inch thick.
If it hits the bottom of your rocker frame you will have to bend the metal
lip on the frame inward or water will leak into your car.
REAR
SEAT BOTTOM: install wire on front part of seat; stretch the cover on making
sure the cover is square to the seat frame. To put the hog ring on, start in
the centre front, then the centre back, then working from the centers to the
outside edges, and then hog ring the sides on. (Normal pliers can be used to
install hog rings if your are careful. There is a special hog ring tool
available at upholstery shops.)
FRONT
SEAT BOTTOM: same as rear seat only there is guide lines to where you should
make cuts, use only as guide lines!!
REAR
SEAT BACK: Come assembled with new sponge, just drop in.
FRONT
SEAT BACK: Bolt the uncovered seat backs to the bottoms mark where the
pleats on the bottom should meet the pleats on the back. Disassemble and put
cover on stapling at the bottom, assemble the seats back together again.
REAR
SIDE PANELS around convertible boot: glue with contact cement to the car.
Put on a thin layer of sponge first. Cut off excess material. You can cover
the holes in side as we no longer put clips in there, (too hard to line up).
Install
seats in car.
Admire
the nice job you just did.
If
you are not admiring yet and need help with something, don’t hesitate to

and paint seat springs black or gray. Most is out of site so don’t worry
about runs.
Horsehair
material is very old. Spray
with a glue to keep together, then cover completely with a thin material to
keep it from falling apart (and on your shinny floor) I used the material
they use to cover septic beds (available lumber yards and cheep) if I
remember I'll send a small sample with kit
Call
me too if you need frame repair suggestions or parts (I have a few of the
special bolts for front seat backs and the ones to bolt to floor)
OK...YOUR
OLD SEATS ARE 40 YEARS OLD AND WE AS A PEOPLE HAVE PUT ON A BIT MORE WEIGHT
THAN THOSE OF THE 60’S SO HERE IS HOW TO BEEF UP THE FRONT SEAT BOTTOM.
You
will notice on each side there are two wavy spring assists. Make sure they
are not broke and are attached properly then add a third. (I carry this
material in stock) I attach it with twist ties and hose clamps. You will
have to bend into shape same as other two.
You
will notice a row of metal joiners across the seat springs. I add another
row across the lower area. (I used twist ties)
Next
cut out a piece of thin lining material and cover the springs all the way
around to the round tube but no further, .use a can of fast tack spay glue
to stick to tub. (Only has to hold till seat cover is properly install)
Now
cut out a cardboard the shape of the seat base and sit on top of liner. Put
horsehair on top of cardboard. On top of this you can add a very thin layer
of foam if you want. I do not.
Now
cover the whole thing again with layer of liner down and around to the steel
tube and glue in place. Make sure there are no wrinkles on the seat surface.
Cover
front seat. with new material from kit.
You will have to cut out where backrest brackets are on each side,
you may want to take a picture of your old seats here and the cut out on the
middle before you take it apart. .
Rear
seat base. You can do the same
as the front but do not need extra row of twist ties etc. IF your rear seat
is missing there are very few of them left but I may be able to help you.
The floater type rear seat was a option on Amphicars and a lot of you now
only have that style as past owners have sold the car with the floater in
and the main seat in there garage and was left behind (now lost to the dump
probably) Alfea can make up a 3 in, floater type seat bottom for a extra
$200.00 but you install the foam from your source. If you want the floater
instead of the spring type seat bottom on your original order there is an
extra $50 charge
Back
rest...A new back rest style is now available with new kits (ONLY)
That
has the AMPHICAR crest in the top middle for an extra $50.00
